This is a bit of a different blog post from my usual ones. I want to share something I’m involved in that I feel genuinely excited about.
Euphoric, Maizie walked out of the acting studio. She’d just finished the last day of a production, and her tutors and acting peers had given her such positive, encouraging feedback that, for once, she allowed herself to believe it. She was determined to ride this wave of motivation straight into the industry. Tomorrow, she’d start contacting agents, scouring Backstage, throwing herself into auditions. She was ready.
And then… nothing.
Weeks turned into months. No responses. No work. Just her alone, feeling like she was getting battered by rejection after rejection.
Then there was the director who had promised the world. Said she could act in and even help shape the story for his film. He seemed interested in what she had to say.
On the Zoom call, she noticed his blue-checked shirt was slightly too tight over his belly, his patchy beard giving him an unkempt look. Something felt off, but she pushed the doubt aside—she wanted to believe in the opportunity. It wasn’t paid, but she thought it could be worth it.
Big mistake.
He took her ideas, used her insights, then ghosted her. The film never got made. Despite chasing him, she never heard back. Just radio silence.
Then came the agent.
An email popped up one morning: “Interview with XXX Agency.”
The woman on the call had the glossy auburn hair, the silk blouse, the polished look of someone well-connected. She mentioned some juicy roles coming up, big productions. Then she casually mentioned that spots on their books were filling up fast—so if Maizie wanted in, she needed to sign now. Caught up in the moment, she did.
Another huge mistake.
She paid more than she could afford for “representation” and never heard from them again. Calls ignored. Emails unanswered. In hindsight, she realized the red flag: she should never have been asked to pay upfront.
Then came the financial panic. The sickening feeling in her stomach every time rent was due. The sleepless nights worrying about how long she could keep this up before she’d have to crawl back home, tail between her legs, and listen to friends and family politely suggest that it might be time to get a “proper job.”
Maizie’s story is painfully common. The industry is tough. Talent alone isn’t enough. You need opportunity. Real experience. Real credits. A network that supports you, rather than exploits you.
That’s exactly what I wanted to create when I teamed up with Michele Lastella, an accomplished actor and director.
I first met Michele on Stage 32, a networking platform for actors and creatives. I had joined as an actress and acting coach in order to meet more like-minded people. He told me about his vision, and I was instantly drawn in. It aligned so well with my dream of running group programs for actors, blending therapy techniques with performance training.
Michele’s background—his experience as an actor and as a teacher at the New York Film Academy—meant he had a strong foundation. But what really stood out to me was his holistic approach. He incorporates ancient meditation techniques, Reiki, and a deep focus on personal transformation alongside traditional acting methods like Meisner and Stanislavski. This was similar to my acting coach approach of blending Gestalt Therapy, EMDR Therapy and acting techniques.
So we put our ideas together and built something that gives actors real experience—something that leads to real IMDb credits and real international exposure.
It’s a 16-week immersive program that includes:
The final two weeks of the program are the actual filming.
We plan to shoot in Lisbon and London (if we have at least 20 actors per location). The film is then professionally edited and distributed, with a secured international release. We have agreements with: Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, YouTube Official Movies Channel, Tubi, The Roku Channel, Plex, and Xumo amongst others.
Which means: a guaranteed role in a real film. A film with IMDb credits. A film that gets released.
Not another student project that disappears. Not another indie film that never sees the light of day. A real production, with real distribution.
Check out what past participants have said about their experience:
An earlier cohort worked on a film which is ,currently in post-production called Spy and Rule. It’s about International and influential individuals in show business, politics, socialites, and high finance. They are invited by some Elite handlers at the best parties and events around the world to act as spys and to blackmail VIPs in order to establish a secret agenda.
Back to Maizie.
She lets herself picture it—walking the red carpet at the Berlin Film Festival, wrapped in emerald-green velvet, an award in her hand. It feels like a fantasy, but then…
Why not?
Dreams are just reality waiting to happen.
If you feel drawn to this, if you’re tired of waiting for permission to be an actor, if you want to be part of something where your work actually leads somewhere—this might be for you.We need at least 20 actors in Lisbon and 20 in London to make this happen. If this speaks to you, take a look here for all the details.
We start soon.
And who knows? Maybe I’ll see you at Berlinale one day.
